Welcome to the NRAO in Green Bank, West Virginia
NRAO operates the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT), the world's largest fully steerable single aperture antenna. In addition to the GBT, several other telescopes exist at the Green Bank site.

National Radio Quiet Zone turns 50!
November 19 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of a resource unique in North America--the National Radio Quiet Zone. The Wednesday, November 19 edition of the Washington Post carries a well researched article about one person's tour of the Green Bank Observatory and its location in the National Radio Quiet Zone.
Likewise, the Observatory and the National Radio Quiet Zone were featured on the Nov. 18 broadcast of the world renowned Star Date radio program. Listen to the program here.
